Annapurna Base Camp Trek, a complete mountainous experience, which takes us up to the base camp, 4100m, of Annapurna 1st and several other high mountains. Annapurna Base Camp Trekking comes at first choice of hiking and mountain lovers.
In a logical point, this is a combine tour of nature and culture which we experience side by side. In term of time duration, this short and sweat trekking route; however, beautiful mountains, landscape and of course the unique culture of indigenous people along the trail makes times worthwhile. The trekking start form Nayapul, after driving one and half hour from Pokhara.
Outline Itinerary
- Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu
- Day 02: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (914m.)
- Day 03: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul (1050m.) then Trek to Ghandruk (1940 m.)
- Day 04: Trek from Ghandruk to Chhomorong (2170 m.)
- Day 05: Trek from Chhomrong to Dovan (2630m.)
- Day 06: Trek from Dovan to Deurali (3230m)
- Day 07: Trek from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4130m)
- Day 08: Trek down from Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo (2310m.)
- Day 09: Trek Bamboo to Jhinu Danda (17800m)
- Day 10: Trek from Jhinhu Danda to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara.
- Day 11: Fly from Pokhar to Kathmandu.
- Day 12: Fly Back Home.
Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu
As per given flight schedule, Go Trek Nepal representative will come to airport with holding a placard of group Name and welcome you. After picking you up from the airport, we will be transferred to the required hotel. We will have time to get refresh and go to explore touristy hub Thamel. In the evening, Go Trek Nepal organizes a dinner party with Trek leader and crew member who are escorting to us to Annapurna Base Camp Trekking. This will be an ice-break session as well as mini orientation session and we will be more than glad to answer any questions if it rises from the trekkers.
This trekking itinerary is prepared to manage trekkers limit available time, so there is no any heritage sightseeing are added; however, we will be able to arrange it after finishing Annapurna Base Camp Trekking.
Day 02: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (914m.)
Early morning, at 6 to 7 am, we drive to Pokhara which is 200 Kilometer, may takes about 5 to 7 hours. Due to winding and narrow road comparing to other westerner world it takes quite longer time. The road we follow alongside Trishuli then Marshayngdi River. During our day long drive, we will cross many villages, town and farmland of local.
Upon arrival in Pokhara, we will check in a required hotel then go to explore to Lakeside for hang out. We also have time to rowing boats in the Phewa Lake. Pokhara is pretty quieter, unlike Kathmandu, surrounded by beautiful hills and mountains. As per travelers experience, it is naturally beautiful city.
Day 03: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul (1050m.) then Trek to Ghandruk (1940 m.)
Today, at 7 am, we are driving towards Nayapul, the trekking starting point, for one and half hour then start trekking towards our overnight point, Ghandruk. The trail lead us through Birethati, where we will show our official documents and permits at the checking point then follow the trail in a parallel way of Modi River. Along the trail, we will pass many villages, seasonal crops covered local’s farmland. Comparing to upcoming trail, today’s trail is pretty easier. Before reaching at Ghandruk, we have to climb uphill trail almost for two hours. Once we arrive at Ghandruk, we will see an exhilarating views of Annapurna south along with Machhapuchre mountain. The alluring landscape where people grow crops and reside in steep land will be an amazing experience of Ghandruk Stay. Ghandruk is a one of the biggest settlement of Indigenous Gurung Group where we will have opportunity to visit their museum and take some snaps with wearing their costume.
Day 04: Trek from Ghandruk to Chhomorong (2170 m.)
After having delicious breakfast, we move towards our today’s overnight point towards Chhomorong. The trail takes us through semi flat land trail up to Komorong Danda then we will descend steep downhill trail until Kimorong Khola. During our trail, the Annapurna and Machha Puchhre provide us feeding of their beauty on time to time. Furthermore, the villages with quaint houses, community forest and reserve forest never make our hiking boring. From Kimrong Khola, the trail goes pretty steep manner as the dead landslide make an obstacle of our trail. After crossing over dead landslide, in two hours great efforts, we will arrive at Chhomorong and overnight stay here.
Day 05: Trek from Chhomrong to Dovan (2630m.)
The downhill trail leads us with stone paved staircase up to Chhomorong River then climb up to lower Sinuwa Village. After having an hour efforts with uphill trail to upper Sinuwa, we will pass through dense rhododendron forest and follow steep down trail to Bamboo. After having lunch break at Bamboo, the tails ascends uphill towards Dovan, today’s overnight point. In couple hour efforts, we will arrive at Dovan and overnight stay here at a lodge.
Day 06: Trek from Dovan to Deurali (3230m)
Today, the trail leads us with quiet dense forest walk of bamboo bush and lush forest. After passing Himalaya Hotel, we will come out form the shadowy path in the sunlight. The spellbinding views appear around including vegetation and High Mountains. The uphill trail takes us up to Hinko cave; from here it goes down nearby river. The views provide us enough feeding of high cliff on the both side and crystal glacial river below. Following alongside river trail, we will finally arrive at Deurali, where we are stopping for overnight.
Day 07: Trek from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4130m)
From Deruali, the gorge gets widened and the trail change in less steep comparing to previous days, however, we arrive at pretty high altitude; air pressure gets low, and better to walk gently. It might be strenuous walk from Bagar to Machhpuchhre Base Camp. From Machhapuchhre base camp, we have enticing views of numbers of mountains, including Machhapuchhre (fishtail), Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna 1st , Annapurna 3rd , Gandharvachuli and Gangapurna. After having lunch at Machhapuchhre Base Camp, we will gently follow the trail towards Annapurna Base Camp on the thin air. We might feel uneasy and headache, please consult to our trek leader and better to walk slowly. Once we arrive at Annapurna Base Camp, the views of numbers of mountains including towering Annpurna just above us and other mountains views appear on 360 angles. We will have time to explore around to catch snaps of glacier and peaks. Overnight stay at Annapurna Base Camp.
Day 08: Trek down from Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo (2310m.)
After having a brilliant time at Annapurna Base Camp, we will follow same trail down to Dovan by crossing the villages which we stayed others day. We better to walk down gently, descending makes our knee senseless which we have received same problems from many trekkers before.
Day 09: Trek Bamboo to Jhinu Danda (17800m)
Today is our second last day of Mountain trek. From Bamboo, we trek uphill up to upper Sinuwa for 1 hour then crosses Lower Sinuwa and Chhomorong. After checking in a lodge, we will have time to go to get hot water bath in the hot spring of Modi River. It will be a relaxing getting submerges in the hot spring. Nepalese have a belief, getting submerge in a hot spring may get heal joint pain.
Day 10: Trek from Jhinhu Danda to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara.
After breakfast, we to walk to Nayapul alongside Modi Rive for 4 to5 hours then drive to Pokhara. Upon arrival in Pokhara we will have time to rest or explore more beautiful areas or organize Paragliding, Zip-lining and rowing in lakes etc.
Day 11: Fly from Pokhar to Kathmandu.
We catch early morning flight, likely at 9, to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, we will have time to shop souvenir for friends and family back home. In evening, Go Trek Nepal will organize a farewell dinner with group members and share brilliant experience with officials.
Day 12: Fly Back Home.
