Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, the trek’s starting point. From here, the trail gradually ascends through the breathtaking Langtang Valley, leading up to high viewpoints like Tserko Ri (5,000 meters) and eventually, the formidable Ganja La Pass. This route takes you deep into a glacial wilderness, surrounded by majestic snow-capped peaks, crystal-clear waterfalls, rushing rivers, and expansive alpine meadows.
What makes this trek truly unique is not just the natural beauty, but the vibrant Tibetan-influenced culture of the region. As you walk through charming Tamang villages and remote yak pastures, you’ll witness daily life steeped in ancient Himalayan traditions. The Langtang region shares a close border with the Tibetan Plateau, offering a fascinating blend of Nepalese and Tibetan heritage.
The trek begins after a day of cultural sightseeing around UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. From Syabrubesi, each day unfolds with purposeful trekking and overnight stops in serene locations. After 11 days of immersive trekking, you’ll return to Kathmandu, completing a full circuit that leaves you with unforgettable memories and a deep connection to the Himalayas.

Upon your arrival in the Kathmandu airport, Go Trekking Nepal staff member will wait for you by holding a placard, state group name or GTN sigh. After greeting the team at the airport then transferred to the required hotel. We will have time to take a short rest and refresh and visit the GTN office. In the evening, Go Trek Nepal organizes a dinner program where we will meet with the trek leader and other crew members. This will be an informal session of ice-break and making discussion about upcoming Ganja La Pass trekking.
Today, after having breakfast, likely at 8 am, we go to explore historical places around Kathmandu. Our tour expert tour leader will escort to sightseeing.
Swayabhu Nath– This temple is located in the western part of Kathmandu. Swasmbhu Nath is known as the monkey temple, considered as shrines for both Hindus and Buddhist people.
Kathmandu Durbar Square– Despite badly demolished by earthquake-2015, it has lots of things to be explored such as Nyashal Chok, Kal Vairab Temple, and Aksh Bhairab Temple.
We will have breakfast quite early morning get prepare to embark on the trekking point, Syabrubeshi. Although the distance from Kathmandu just 145-kilo meter, due to winding, narrow and hilly roads, it takes about 8 to 9 hours drive. It would be a pretty hectic, exhausting ride; however, we get time to see beautiful landscapes, High Mountains, people, their farmland and farming style alongside the road. We will pass a number of villages and small towns such as Ranipauwa, Trishuli, Kalikastha and Dhunche Bazaar.
Today is our first day of Trekking, certainly, it is pretty exciting. We follow the trail Langtang River and pass dense forest. While doing mountain trek it is pretty normal go through ascending and descending trail. We pass several bridges, villages, farmland, and Tea houses along the trail. After doing 5 to 6 hours walk, we will reach Lama Hotel, our overnight point. Trek Leader will arrange a Tea house lodge here
Today, our trail starts after having delicious mountain breakfast, towards Langtang Village, our overnight point. The trail leads us into a dense forest and brings us to uphill towards the narrow valley. The trail goes through the gorge, however, the views around seem gorgeous including Langtang Lirung and spectacular landscape. We pass beautiful Langtang village, which used to be our overnight point, was tragically damage by earthquake, 2015. The glacial avalanches, caused by the earthquake, buried over 300 lives in Langtang village alone. Now, the rebuilding process has to go speedily and most of them have been rebuilt. After crossing this beautiful settlement, we arrive at Mundu where we are stopping for overnight stay
As usual, we keep continuing our daily job, following trail after breakfast. As per the itinerary, we will be heading towards Kyanjin Gompa, today’s stopping point. Along on the trail, we cross many Chhorten (shrines of Buddhist), water mills, and farmland and artistically inscribed with Buddhist Mantras on the rocks. After reaching Kanjin Gompa, we check in to the hotel and the trek leader will escort us to explore around the village.
Today, the day starts after taking mountainous breakfast at the lodge, and we head forward to visit Tserko-Ri Mountain through Yak Pasture. The mountain situated at 5000m, air goes thinner. It uneasy breathing, we have to consult with the trek leader to cope with this problem. From the Tserko-Ri, we will see magnificent mountain views around. After completing mountain exploration, we will come back to Kyanjin village and go around to see largest monastery, enjoying beautiful glaciers, grazing yaks and the beautiful view around.
After having a good time at Kyanjin Gompa, we trek towards Negang, today’s stopping point. The trail goes bellow towards Langtang River and ascends uphill through Rhododendron and juniper forest. On the trail, there are no human settlements that appear around as the trail reaches the vast wilderness. Upon arrival at Negang, we will overnight at camp.
Today, we are crossing Ganja-La-Pass, so it will be a challenging and pretty strenuous day. However, we will be enjoying a high mountain pass and Rocky Mountains around. The trail takes us towards southern direction by following a glacial stream, moraines and steep up to the pass. The pass and all other objects around are fully covered by snow. In addition, we can view beautiful Langtang Lirung Mountain and Tibetan plateau. After having beautiful mountains view from the pass, we descend downhill through a grassy land. We arrive to Keldang, where we set up a tent and overnight stay.
Today, we are pretty exhausted as we did a long high steep uphill and downhill trail and crossed high mountain pass, nevertheless, we get ready to go forward to our job again. The trail goes bellow though ridge and grassland; we enjoy beautiful views all around. The ridgeline trail passes through a village, Helambu and arrives at Duku, where we will be stopping for overnight stay.
The altitude drops down; the trail has not been done yet. Today, the trail descents and climb up again to a pass that we can use another viewpoint see around the mountain including some peaks of Everest regions and certainly Langtang. The way to our scheduled point, descents downhill to Gyarke Gompa, and we will arrive at Tyarke Ghyang. We may have time to explore the Old Monastery and beautiful Hyolmo Village around. We stop here for an overnight stay.
Today is our second last day of Mountain Trek; the trail leads us through forest and villages. The valley gets widen, and the trail eases our trek relatively to previous days. Comparatively, we can differentiate people, their culture and practices between Langtang and Helambu Region, even though they follow the same religion, Buddhism. The stopping point, Sermathang offers a beautiful Hyolmo settlement and decade-old monasteries. Furthermore, the Mountain Views around in far distances never let down us in our day-to-day feeding.
Today is our final day of Ganja-La-pass Trekking, we follow the trail through many villages farm and farmlands then arrive at driving point Melamchi Bazaar. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, we will have time to shopping to buy souvenirs for friends and family back home. In the evening, Go Trek Nepal will organize a farewell dinner party. We will share interesting talk about the post trekking with GTN officials.
