Trip Overview
The Langtang Valley trekking route situates 51 kilometers north of Kathmandu, in the Langtang National Park. Relatively, it is, unlike Annapurna and Everest Base Camp, a less busy trail. However, hiking in the Langtang valley will reward you with a life-changing experience.
Nature fascinates the entire Langtang region with spectacular views of high mountains. The snow-capped mountains Dorje Lakpa, Changbu, Yansa Tsenji, Kyung Ri, Dogpache, Langshisha Ri, Langtang Lirung Gangchenpo, Morimoto, and Yala Peak, stands as the border between Tibet and Nepal frontier.
In terms of Flora and Fauna, the National park is a treasure of nature. A wide range of vegetation, subtropical to Alpine, covers as per elevation. It is a habitat for wildlife; sometimes, we may have a glimpse of them. According to the national park’s data, over 300 different species of birds, including migrants and locals, are found.
The tea house-lodges are run by local people, Tamang and Sherpas, as they belong from the Trekking Trail. They follow Tibetan Buddhism religion; and have unique culture and practices.
The massive earthquake, 2015, has damaged badly this area. Now, the speedily rebuilding efforts of local reconstructed, and now it’s opened for trekking. Traveling in this region is direct support to locals who were affected of the post-earthquake.
The highest altitude in this journey is 4,048 meters, Kyanjin Gompa. However, during a day-tour, we reach up to 5000M, Tserko-Ri.
A full-day overland drive from Kathmandu, we can reach to the trekking starting point, Syabrubeshi.
As per tour companies’ set itinerary, some offer for 6 days, 7 days, even 5 days, but 10 days is the perfect time for hiking.
Besides explained as above, other routes such as Gosainkunda, Tamang Heritage, Helambu, Ganja-La-Pass Trek can be combined.
The price of this trek varies as per the services required. Guests can arrange solo, group join, and hiring guide and porter. As a responsible Agency, we suggest you not to go solo Trek.
Langtang Valley Trekking Itinerary
01
Day 01 Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1550 m) 8 to 8 hours drive
The journey from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi is the beginning of our Langtang Valley Trek. The driving day involves a scenic drive through the diverse landscapes of central Nepal on Pasang Lhamu Highway. The journey is a transition of the bustling city environment of Kathmandu to the serene mountain village of Syabrubesi.
The day starts with early morning drive to avoid traffic congestion and make the most of daylight hours.
Depending on the size and preferences of the group, the trip is usually taken in a cozy private jeep or tourist bus.
In half hour getting on the drive, we leave the vibrant Kahtmandu city. The journey leads us through terrace farming and small roadside villages.
As we reach to Trishuli Bazaar, we will have a lunch there. After half an hour lunch break, we drive further following the river bank of mighty Trishuli River.
The journey ascents with winding road and arrive at the checking point of Langtang National Park.
In an hour drive from National Park entry point, we reach to Dhunche, a district headquarter of Rashuwa District.
From Dhunche the road descends and arrive at the our Trekking Starting Point, Syabrubesi.

02
Day 02 Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2380 m)- 5 to 6 hours Trek
Today is our day second of our Langtang Valley Trek. The route takes us from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel.
The first section of the 2nd Day trek introduces us to the lush green landscapes, dense forests, and the lively Langtang Khola (river).
The trail winds through quaint Tamang (tribal group) villages, crosses some suspension bridges, and features a combination of easy and difficult ascents.
We start our day with a delicious breakfast first in Himalaya at a teahouse. Typical options include Tibetan bread, eggs, porridge, and tea.
The trek begins from Syabrubesi, heading north along the banks of the Langtang Khola.
Immediate after leaving Syabrubesi, we will cross a suspension bridge over the Langtang Khola, marking the start of our uphill trail.
The trail leads through dense forests of oak, rhododendron, bamboo, etc. This part of the trail is rich in term of biodiversity. Different kinds of birds and animal such as deer, red panda and maquaks may spot here.
After a few hours of trekking, we will reach at a small settlement of Pahiro (Landslide). This is a good place for a comfort break and to enjoy some refreshments.
Continuing our trek, we will reach Bamboo village. This village has some teahouses where we stop for lunch and enjoy the surroundings.
Having cross beautiful forests, we will reach to Lama Hotel. Lama hotel is a beautiful settlement with tea houses in the bank of Langtang River.

03
Day 03 Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3430 m ) 5 to 6 hours Trek
Having healthy breakfast at the teahouse in Lama Hotel, we will begin trekking.
The trek begins likely at 7:00 AM, leaving the serene surroundings of Lama Hotel.
The trail starts by continuing through dense forests of oak, rhododendron, and bamboo. You might catch glimpses of wildlife, such as monkeys, deer and red pandas, as you walk through this lush greenery.
The path is a gentle but consistent ascent, with occasional steep sections. Crossing several small streams and wooden bridges makes our journey interesting.
After approximately 3 to 4 hours of trekking, we will reach Ghoda Tabela (3000m). This place used to be once horse stables of Tibetan nomadic, hence the name gone famous as “Ghoda Tabela” (Horse Stable). It’s a good spot to take a short break and enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains.
We will have a lunch here at Godha Tabela then begin our afternoon trek.
The trail ascents continuously up and, it opens up providing expansive views of Langtang Valley and snow-capped peaks.
We will trek through Thangsyap (3200 m) a small settlement with a few teahouses. From this palce, beautiful views of Langtang Lirung (7227 m) and other surrounding peaks appears clearly.
As we get closer to Langtang Village, the valley widens and we can see the extent of the landslide area from the 2015 earthquake. The landscape here is a mix of rocky terrain, grasslands, and scattered trees.
By late afternoon, we will arrive at Langtang Village (3430m) in the late afternoon. The Langtang Village was devastated by the earthquake of 2015 causing many tea houses were gone smashed. Later on it is rebuilt.
After checking-in a tea house, our trek leader takes you to explore beautiful village and surrounding mountain exploration as short walk.

04
Day 04 Langtang Village to Kanjin Gompa (3,870 m) 4 to 5 hours Trek
Relatively, today’s trek from Langtang Village to Kanjin Gompa will be shortest. However, a serene and picturesque destination in the heart of the Langtang Valley will be amazing.
After a delicious breakfast we begin trekking, leaving the beautiful Langtang Village behind. The trail to Kanjin Gompa gradually ascends. Trekkers will enjoy scenic meadows, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks.
The panoramic views of Langtang Lirung (7,227 m), Gang Chhenpo (6,388 m), and Naya Kang (5,846 m) will an addition feed for trekkers.
During our trek, we pass through several small settlements and yak pastures that provide a glimpse of the traditional lifestyle of the local Tamang and Sherpa communities. Grazing yaks in the pasturelands add a unique charm to the trek.
Almost our entire trail follows the Langtang Khola (river) banks, and we cross several wooden bridges over glacial streams. The sound of rushing water and occasional waterfalls adds to the serene ambiance of the trek.
Having trek approximate 4 to 5 hours, we reach Kanjin Gompa, a small village located in a stunning valley surrounded by towering peaks. The village is home of the famous Kanjin Monastery.
After checking-in lodge, trek leader escorts you to visit Kanjin Gompa. This is revered monastery for the local Buddhist community. This sacred site offers a wonderful opportunity to explore the region’s spiritual practices and traditions.
We also explore local cheese factory. The factory produces cheese through local and traditional process. The cheese factory is undertaken by the local government which supports local farmers to generate income.
We stay overnight at a lodge in Kanjin Gompa, enjoying warm hospitality and comfortable amenities.

Day 05 Kyanjin Gompa to Tserko Ri ( 5000 m) and Return-5 to 6 hours
The day 5 of our trekking will be the exploration of most scenic views in entire trek. We will wakes up at 5 and head with pack breakfast toward Tserko Ri (5000).
We begin trek early at five under dawn sky. The trail ascents and gets steeper as it gain gradually high altitude.
We keep continue trekking along the rugged path. The trail gets steeper and rockier trekkers need careful navigation which our guide will help. As the trail ascents up, the air goes thinner and colder to add challenges, so trekkers need frequent breaks.
As you climb higher and higher the landscape transforms dramatically. Expansive valleys and snow-capped mountains and peaks come into view. Along the trail, we might see grazing Himalayan Ibex and birds.
After doing 5 hours effort, we will arrive at the summit of Tserko Ri. The panoramic views of the Langtang mountain range are breathtaking. The jaw-dropping view with Langtang Lirung (7,227 m), Langshisha Ri (6,427 m), and Dorje Lakpa (6,966 m) prominently in view.If the day is haze free, we can see in distant peaks like Shishapangma (8,027 m) across the Chaina boarder. Moreover, the widened landscapes of Tibet can also be seen.
Spending one hour at the summit is enough. The activities at the summit will be induced from Tour leader to all mountain peaks and places. We capture photos, videos for memory, social media sharing such as post, real, shorts etc.
Descending back to Kyanjin Gompa is easier than ascending. However, careful foot stepping required on the rocky and sleeper path. We stop on the halfway to Kanjin for a packed lunch amidst the serene mountain backdrop.
Upon arrival back from day tour, trekkers get refresh and rest. If they like to explore Kanjin Gompa again then tour leader will escorts them.

Day 06 Kyanjin Gompa (3,870 m ) to Lama Hotel (2,380 m) (Return) 6 to 7 hours Trek
Early morning, likely, 7:00 AM, we enjoy a nourishing breakfast at the lodge. We will pack our and get ready for the descent back to Lama Hotel.
Trekkers begin retracing their steps along the Langtang Valley. The path takes us through familiar landscapes, offering different perspectives as you descend.
Approximately at 10 am we reach Langtang Village. Trekking team will take a short break here. We check any sights if you missed it on the way up. Now, it is a good time to explore. Enjoy the views of the surrounding peaks and the tranquil atmosphere of the village.
Having a short break, we resume trekking, heading further down the valley. The trail is mostly downhill. It is easy in come down compared to the ascent. However, the rocky and uneven terrain requires careful stepping.
We pass through Ghoda Tabela, where we can stop for a rest and some refreshments. The landscapes continue to change, with lush forests and glimpses of mountain views through the canopy.
Trekking team stops for lunch at one of the teahouses along the trail. The lunch boosts your energy with a hearty meal and hydrate well.
Trekkers will continue trek, descending through dense forests of oak, rhododendron, and bamboo. The trail is rich in flora and fauna, offering opportunities to spot wildlife and enjoy the natural beauty of the region.
By 4 PM, we will reach Lama Hotel and check into your lodge and take some time to relax and recover from the day’s trek. The peaceful surroundings of Lama Hotel provide a perfect setting to unwind.

Day 07 Day 7: Lama Hotel (2,380 m) to Syabrubesi (1,550 m) 6 to 7 hours Trek
Trekkers get up likely at 6, wash up and shower, and they will have a hearty breakfast at the lodge. Trek leader will ensure their gear whether it is packed and ready for the final day of trekking.
Travelers begin descent from Lama Hotel. The trail takes them through lush forests of oak, rhododendron, and bamboo, offering a serene and picturesque trek.
In couple of hours trek, we reach the small settlement of Bamboo. Trekker will take a short break here to rest and hydrate.
Continue descending, enjoying the sights and sounds of the dense forest make our trek more enjoyable. Listen for the calls of birds and watch for wildlife that inhabits the area.
We will reach Ramche, another small settlement along the trail. Trekkers need a longer break here for lunch that makes replenishing their energy for the remaining trek.
Passing through many village and surrounding location with beautiful view give us a pleasure.The path offers stunning views of the surrounding landscapes and the Langtang Khola (river).
By crossing a settlement, Sherpagaon, we will arrive in Syabrubesi. Check into your lodge and take some time to relax and unwind after the day’s trek.

Day 08 Syabrubesi (1,550 m) to Kathmandu (1,300 m) 8 to 9 Hours Drive
You will wake up early and have breakfast at your lodge in Syabrubesi. Trek leader and you also want to ensure all your belongings are packed and ready for the long drive back to Kathmandu.
After our last, not least, Himalayan breakfast, we board on a vehicle and begin the journey. The drive will take us through picturesque landscapes, with views of terraced fields, quaint villages, and lush hillsides.
Likely at 4 pm, arrive in Kathmandu and check-in to a hotel. Take some time to freshen up and rest after the long journey.
Trekker will have free time to explore the vibrant streets of Thamel, a popular tourist district known for its shops, restaurants, and lively atmosphere. This is a great opportunity to pick up souvenirs or enjoy a meal at one of the many eateries.
