Having a wonderful experience at EBC and Kalapaththar, the adventure journey continues towards Island Peak. Reaching EBC not only provides us with an awe-inspiring view but also makes us good pre-practice comfortably reach at the top of Island Peak.
Summiting Island Peak at 6,189 meters is a magnificent milestone. It serves as excellent preparation for climbing any mountain around the globe, including the mighty Mount Everest at 8,848 meters.
After an enjoyable trip to EBC, the trail leads through Lobuche, Phiriche, and the serene Imja Valley, with stunning panoramas of Ama Dablam and Makalu. Climbers prepare for the summit with acclimatization days and training on glacier travel and rope techniques.
Like other trips to Everest, the journey typically begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, followed by a trek through the stunning Khumbu Valley.
We will pass through iconic locations such as Namche Bazaar and Tengboche Monastery. The trek to Island Peak Base Camp allows climbers to acclimatize while enjoying the stunning landscapes.
Upon landing at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by a representative.
Our representative will take you to a hotel as outlined in our correspondence.
Check-in and freshen up at the hotel. We will then proceed to the Go Trekking Nepal office for a tour briefing about our upcoming trek and climb. This will include an overview of the itinerary, safety instructions, and any last-minute preparations.
If you have time, explore the bustling streets of Thamel, known for its vibrant atmosphere, shops, and restaurants. You can also visit nearby cultural sites such as the Garden of Dreams or Kathmandu Durbar Square.
If there are any personal items to buy, we will visit shops around Thamel and nearby areas.
In the evening, you will attend a welcome dinner party organized by Go Trekking Nepal.
Early morning, we will drive to Kathmandu domestic airport and fly to Lukla (2,840m). The thirty minutes-long airstrip offers spectacular views of the Himalayas.
Upon arrival at Lukla, we will meet our fellow ground crews and begin to Phakding (2,610m), a gentle hike through lush landscapes and Sherpa villages.
Pass by prayer wheels, stones Manis, carve letters on stones, and experience the local culture.

Having taken our first, Himalayan, hearty, breakfast, we start trekking towards Namche Bazaar, the Sherpa Capital.
Crossing several suspension bridges, festooned with prayer flags, over the Dudh Koshi River is frequent on the trail.
Island Peak Climbing group ascend through pine forests and enjoy the first views of Everest.
After 5-6 hours of hiking efforts, we will reach the busting, vibrant Sherpa capital, Namche Bazaar.

To adjust to the high altitude, making it easier for our upcoming trekking and expeditions, we will acclimatize the whole day at Namche.
The acclimatization time will be combined with the day exploration around Namche.
We hike to the Everest View Hotel, which used to be the Hotel at the Highest alleviation in the 80s, and catch panoramic views of Everest and Surrounding peaks,
Our trek leader will escort our valued climber to observe the Sherpa Museum and explore the Namche bazaar.

The day begins by ascending uphill, going through many tea houses and settlements.
We will walk through rhododendron forests with stunning mountain views. The trail descends to Dhudhkoshi River and steeply ascends to Tengboche.
Once we arrive in Tengboche, check into a tea house, and visit the famous Tengboche Monastery with the trekking guide.
Enjoy the magnificent backdrop of Ama Dablam.

The Island Peak Climbing plus Everest Base Camp Trek team starts the journey from Tengboche (3,860m) and treks to Dingboche (4,410m).
The trail begins by slightly descending through a forest of rhododendrons and pine trees.
Cross the Imja Khola River through a suspension bridge, after one hour we reach Pangboche, the home to the oldest monastery in the region.
As we ascend, we enjoy the exhilarating view of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and other peaks.
The trail gradually gains altitude, the terrain becomes more rugged and alpine as we approach Dingboche.
Reach Dingboche village. It is known for its stone-walled fields and panoramic mountain views.
Settle into a teahouse lodge and rest for the night, preparing for the next day’s acclimatization and exploration.

Today, we will stop for acclimatization day at Dingboche. The acclimatization helps us to adapt to thin air as well as reduce mountain sickness.
We will hike to Nangkartshang Peak (5,083m) for stunning views of Makalu and other peaks.
Vising Dingboche Village, and Monasteries, interacting with Sherpas, and having talks with other travelers like us.
After completing the EBC trek, in 4 days, we will cross this beautiful place heading to our ultimate destination—the Island Peak Climbing.
Come back to the teahouse and relax in the dining hall or room.

After leaving Dingboche, the trail gently ascends. The rail provides stunning views of the surrounding peaks, including the majestic Ama Dablam.
From Dughla, a small village, the trail becomes steeper to Thukla Pass.
We pass by the memorials of climbers who lost their lives in their quest to summit Everest.
The tail goes along the Khumbu Glacier with impressive views of Pumori and Nuptse.
Finally, we arrive in Lobuche, a small settlement near Everest Base Camp, at an altitude of 4,940 meters.

Trek from Lobuche to Everest Base Camp (5,364m), could be the ultimate destination for many trekkers. For us, the journey isn’t over yet. Our ultimate objective, climbing Island Peak, is still ahead of us.
We will walk along the Khumbu Glacier, enjoying the rugged landscape.
Making a celebration at Everest Base Camp, such as hoisting our country flags, recording video messages for beloved, taking photos, etc. we do.
Spend time at Everest Base Camp, surrounded by towering peaks and icefalls.
Return to Gorak Shep (5,170m) for the overnight stay.
We begin our day with a pre-dawn trek to Kala Pattar, the renowned viewpoint at 5,545 meters. The viewpoint, Kala Patthar, offers 360-degree panoramic views of Everest and the neighboring peaks. When the first sunlight hits the summit of Everest, the sight from Kala Pattar seems breathtaking, the first light illuminates the summit of Everest in a golden hue.
After having an enjoyable time, taking photos and videos, and viewing all the alluring mountain peaks, we descend to Gorak Shep for a hearty breakfast and a brief rest.
From Gorak Shep, we begin descending towards Pheriche. The trail passes through the beautiful landscapes of the Khumbu region, Thukla Pass, and along the Imja Khola River.
We reach Pheriche, a tranquil village at 4,371 meters, known for its health clinic and serene setting. We settle into a cozy teahouse, reflecting on our achievements and strategizing for our next challenge—the Island Peak climb, which follows our successful trek to Everest Base Camp.

We begin our trek from Pheriche, a tranquil village situated at 4,371 meters. The trail starts by winding through the valley, presenting spectacular vistas of the surrounding peaks and the pristine landscapes of the Khumbu region.
As we proceed, we enter the Imja Valley. The path gradually ascends, and the landscape becomes more rugged. Along the way, we enjoy spectacular views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and other majestic peaks.
After about four hours of trekking, we will reach Chhukung, situated at an elevation of 4,730 meters. This small yet charming settlement acts as a gateway for climbers aiming for Island Peak.
We check into a comfortable teahouse, where we can rest and acclimate, preparing for the forthcoming climbs of Island Peak.

Today is dedicated to acclimatization in Chhukung, allowing our bodies to adjust to the high altitude before we continue our ascent.
We will spend the day exploring Chhukung, the picturesque village situated at 4,730 meters. This tranquil settlement offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks, including Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam.
Practicing acclimatization, we go for a hike to higher altitudes, such as Chhukung Ri and other short hikes. These hikes provide excellent opportunities to enjoy the panoramic vistas and help our bodies adapt to the thin air.
After the short hike, we return to our teahouse for rest and recovery. We practice climbing with the climbing guide. This downtime is also a chance to prepare for the upcoming climb, ensuring that all gear and equipment are in order.

Today, we will trek on an exciting journey from Chhukung to Island Peak Base Camp, setting the stage for our ultimate climbing adventure.
The trail leads us through the beautiful Imja Valley, surrounded by towering peaks and glacial landscapes. The path takes us deeper into the rug terrain of the Khumbu Region.
As we climb towards Island Peak Base Camp, situated at around 5,087 meters above sea level, the path grows steeper and more demanding. Careful stepping is required first and foremost.
Upon reaching the base camp, first of all, we will set up our tents to shelter in a harsh situation and settle into our campsite.
The Island Peak base camp is located amidst a dramatic alpine setting. It provides an incredible view of the surrounding peaks and glaciers. Here, we rest and prepare for the next day’s climbing activities, ensuring all our gear is ready, and in order, and receiving final briefings from our guides.

Today is the climax of our journey as we aim to summit Island Peak and return safely to base camp.
We start our climb early in the morning, filled with determination and ready to face the challenges ahead.
The route involves negotiating rocky terrain, snow slopes, and possibly a challenging ice wall, all under the guidance of experienced climbers.
We should follow thoroughly all the advice and instructions of our guides. Our guides are Sherpas, who grew up in similar mountain regions or the same. They are professional, been to many times in high mountain from a small peak to high mountains like Everest. Defying their instruction could be a disaster.
After hours of strenuous efforts, we will reach the summit of Island Peak 6,189 meters, which is our ultimate destination. The victorious celebration comes with enjoying breathtaking views of the Himalayan panoramic views around, hoisting own country flags, taking photos and videos, recording messages for beloved, and taking group photos from different angles and postures, etc.
After finishing a brief celebration, we will descend our way back to base camp. The weather may change faster in the Himalayas than lowlands.
We descend carefully. It is said, may be true, that descending is more challenging than ascending in peak climbing activities. So, careful stepping requires most to get back safely to base camp.

We will retrace the steps through the Imja Valley that we followed 4 days ago.
We cross many settlements, and teahouses, following the valley, and enjoy the serene mountain views and Sherpa culture.

The trail continues and descends from Pangboche to Namche Bazaar.
Passing through Tengboche we enjoy the lush forest trails.
Arrive in Namche Bazaar and celebrate the successful expedition.

The final day of trekking from Namche Bazaar to Lukla.

Arrive in Lukla and prepare for the flight back to Kathmandu.

After finishing a two-week-long mountain trekking expedition, we will fly to Kathmandu.
After boarding the aircraft, we will have the last, but not least, the opportunity to view the mountain from the window.
Upon arrival in Kathmandu, we will check into a hotel and freshen then go to buy some gifts for friends and family back home.
In the evening, Go Trekking Nepal will organize a special dinner at a local restaurant. Here, we will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of delicious dishes, allowing everyone to enjoy their preferred meal. This celebration not only marks the end of our challenging and rewarding journey, Island Peak Climbing Combined with EBC Trek but also provides a chance to relax and share stories of our adventure in a comfortable and festive atmosphere.

The best time to climb Island Peak is in the pre-monsoon (spring) season from March to May or the post-monsoon (autumn) season from September to November. During these times, the weather is generally stable, the skies are clear, and the climbing conditions are favorable.
While previous climbing experience is not mandatory, it is highly recommended. Island Peak is a challenging climb that requires basic mountaineering skills such as using crampons, ice axes, and ropes. Prior experience in high-altitude trekking and basic mountaineering training will be beneficial.
Island Peak is considered a moderately difficult climb. The ascent involves glacier travel, crossing crevasses, and a steep final headwall of about 45-50 degrees. Physical fitness, acclimatization, and some mountaineering skills are crucial for a successful climb.

Certainly you can skip the Everest Base Camp Tour that mentioned on our Itinerary. However, you must acclimatize in Namche and Dingboche.
We will meet up at Phiriche before heading to Imza valley and go together toward Island peak climbing.
The entire journey, including trekking to the base camp and the climb, typically takes about 16-20 days. This includes time for acclimatization, trekking to Everest Base Camp (optional), and the climb itself.
