Tamang Heritage Trail

Tamang Heritage Trekking is newly identified trekking trail, knows as a cultural trek, in Langtang region. It  grants us  ample nature experiences of High Mountain and beautiful landscape.  The Tamang Heritage Trail region shares boarder with Tibetan mainland. It is  said that people from this areas has a Tibetan culture and practice, and  known as a mini Tibet in  Nepal. From this area, people have very unique culture and identity which has not been dominated by outer culture yet.

 

Basically, the trek begins after having a day heritage sightseeing tour in Kathmandu . A  whole day rive to the trekking point, Syabrubesi. Entire our journey become worthwhile. And we get chance to acquaint with  nature, mountain, culture and people of trekking  region.

 

We prepared a day-to-day itinerary which may meet with your available holiday.  It is just a sample itinerary. Please, revise it. We are glad to customize it to meet your  available length of holiday.

Outline Itinerary

Day 01 : Arrival in Kathmandu

Day 02 :Heritage Site Sightseeing

Day 03 :Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Beshi (1460m) by jeep or bus (6-8 hours)

Day 04 :Trek from Syabru Beshi to Gatlang Village (2238m) – approx 5-6 hours

Day 05 :Trek from Gatlang Village to Tatopani (2380m) – approx 6 hours

Day 06 :Trek from Tatopani via Nagthali (3165m) to Thuman (2238m) – approx 6 hours

Day 07 :Trek from Thuman to Briddim (2239m) – approx 6 hours

Day 08 :Trek from Briddim to Syabru Beshi (1460m) – approx 4 hours

Day 09 :Drive by bus or jeep from Syabru Beshi to Kathmandu – approx 6-8 hours

Day 10 : Fly Back to Home

Cost Includes

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m)

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, our representative will be waiting with a placard that states group name or Go Trek Nepal Sign. After welcoming, group will be transferred to a require hotel then check in. Depending in flight schedule, we may have time to explore touristy town Thamel for stroll around. In evening, Go Trek Nepal organizes a dinner program which we uses an introductory program with officials, Trek leader and Trekking Crews. GTN team will be glad to answer of any question raise on dinner session.

 

Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing.

In the morning, after breakfast, likely at 9 am, our tour leader will escort us to explore heritage sites; Monkey Temple, Patan Durbar square, Pahsupti Nath and Bauddha Nath. After finishing day tour, we will have time for shopping if left over to buy something for trekking.

 

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi Syabru Bensi (1450m)-9 hours

After having breakfast, we embark towards our today’s destination, Sabrubeshi, the trekking point, by overland for 7 to 8 hours hectic drive. The road goes through winding to uphill and downhill. Alongside the road, we will observe terrace faming system in hilly region and quaint houses and settlements. Once we get at hill pass, beautiful mountains range of Langtang, Ganesh Himal, and other hill provide us with ample feeding. After day long drive, we will arrive at Syabrubesi and overnight stay here.

 

 

Day 04: Trek from Syabrubesi to Gatlang (2238m) -5 hours

Today, the day starts with morning delicious mountain breakfast, heading towards Gatlang Village. Along the trail we will cross many mountainous villages and beautiful scenic views of landscape and High Mountains such as Ganesh Himal, Gosainkund range and Langtang Lirung. Upon arrival at Gatlang, our tour leader arranges a lodge in Gatlang.

 

Day 5: Trek from Gatlang to Tatopani (2607m) -6 hours

Today’s trekking starts with descending downhill trail to Thangbuchet village, nearby Chilime Village. Of course, the Langtang mountain range, Ganesh Himal and spectacular views never let down us in providing feeding. One we arrive at the Chilime Hydro power dam, one of the biggest mega projects of Nepal; we will ascend to uphill trail until we get to Tatopani, literally meant ‘hot water’ in Nepali. People from around and far village used to come to get treatment of joint pain by submerging in hot spring. Nepalese have strong belief, get submerge in hot spring heals joint pain. Unfortunately, the earthquake of 2015 has demolished badly and the source of hot spring disappeared. Overnight stay at a lodge.

 

Day 06: Trek from Tatopani to Thuman (2338m)- 7 hours

Relatively, today’s trek is longest day trek, however, alluring mountain views and settlement of Tamang villages makes us the day as similar as previous days. We start ascending through lush forest to Nagthali Pass, 3170M, from this point, enticing mountain ranges of Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, Kerung, and Sanjen are seen at almost 360 degree angle. After having great time, the trail leads us downhill towards Thuman, our overnight stay point. Thuman, itself a strongly Tibetan influenced Tamang Village; reminds a village on outskirt of Lhasa.

 

Day 07: Trek from Thuman to Bridhim (2229m.)- 6 hours

The trail leads us through a dense forest of rhododendron towards Briddhim, situated on the lap of Langtang Mountain, today’s night stopping point. Briddhim reminds us like a piece of Tibet, like Thuman. The culture, practices, costume and even language make this village Tibet influenced. Moreover, the houses are built with rocks and the roofs are paved by slates. Upon arrival, we will check in a lodge and explore the beautiful village around including Dukchu Monastery.

 

Day 08: Trek from Bridim to Syabrubesi (1450m)- 5 hours

After having breakfast, we head to Sabrubeshi with a memorable week long Tamang Heritage Trail trek. Today is our last day of mountain trek. The trail takes us alongside Bhotekoshi River. We pass through forests and mountainous farmland. Stay overnight in a lodge at Syabrubeshi.

 

Day 09: Drive Back Kathmandu (1300m)-9 hours

In morning, we will be driving back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, we will have time to go for souvenir shopping for friends and family back home. In evening, Go Trek Nepal will organize a dinner program which we share experience with GTN officials.

 

Day 10: Airport Transfer

Depending flight schedule, Go Trek Nepal will organize airport transfer.
