Ganja La Pass Trekking Through Langtang Valley


Ganja La Pass Trekking combines route with Langtang Valley Trekking. As this route lies on the close distance from Kathmandu, there won’t be additional days long drive and flight necessarily needed. It is a hassle frees Trekking. Simply, we drive to the trekking point; and start trekking. The Route  takes us up to 5120m high elevation, Ganja La Pass, whereas we will also have good time at Tserko-Ri 5000m. Of course, our entire trekking will amaze us, while we will be passing through Langtang region, a glacial trail. The beautiful landscape including, waterfall, widened valleys in southern part and the vegetation are another attraction for our trip. Furthermore,  snow-capped mountains, crystal clear water fall, stream and river will make our journey worthwhile. In addition, not only nature, the culture and friendly people around the trail reward us along the entire trail. The culture and costume from along our trail, High Mountain, is influenced by Tibetan, one must say presumably as this region share border with Tibetan plateau.



The journey starts after day exploration of world heritage sites in Kathmandu then almost a day drive to the trekking point, Syabrubeshi. From the trekking point, the trek begins with an excitement toward the  scheduled overnight camps. After 11 day trekking, on arrival back to Kathmandu, we will have  been able to make a big circuit trek that would be a benchmark in our life time.

Day 01:   Arrive in Kathmandu  (1,300m)
Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing & Trekking preparation: 4-5 hours
Day 03: Driving from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,550m): 8-9 hours
Day 04: Trek from Syabrubeshi to Lama Hotel (2,380m): 5- 6 hours
Day 05: Trek from Lama Hotel to Mundu (3,430m): 5-6 hours
Day 06: Trek from Mundu to Kyangjin Gompa & Village Exlorationn (3,870m): 3 hours.
Day 07: Explore Tserko Ri (5000m) 7-8 hrs
Day 08: Trek from Kyanjin to Negang (4000m): 5-6 hours
Day 09: Trek from Negagang to Keldang (4300m): 6-7 hours
Day 10: Trek from Keldang to Dukpu (4080m): 5-6 hours
Day 11: Trek from Dukpu to Tarkeghyang (2,590m): 5-6 hours
Day 12: Trek from Tarke Ghyang to Sermathang (2,610m): 4-4 hours
Day 13: Trek from Sermathang to Malemchi Pul Bazaar: Drive to Kathmandu: 4 hours trek, 3 hours drive
Day 14: Final Departure

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m)

Upon your arrival in the Kathmandu airport, GoTrekkingNepal staff member will waiting for you with holding a placard, states group name or GTN sigh. After greeting team at the airport then transferred to the require hotel. We will have time to make short rest and refresh and visit to GTN office. In the evening, GoTrekkingNepal organizes a dinner program where we will meet with trek leader and other crew members. This will be an informal session of ice-break and making discussion about upcoming Ganja La Pass trekking.


Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing & Preparation for the Trek, 4 to 5 hours.

Today, after having breakfast, likely at 8 am, we go to explore historical places around Kathmandu. Our tour expert tour leader will escort to sightseeing.

Swayabhu Nath- This temple is located in the western part of Kathmandu. Swasmbhu nath is known as monkey temple, considered as shrines for both Hindus and Buddhsit people.
Kathmandu Durbar Square– Despite badly demolished by earthquake-2015, it has lots thing to be explored such as Nyashal Chok, Kal Vairab Temple and Aksh Bhairab Temple.



Day 03: Drive to Syabrubesi (1,550m): 145 km/ 7 hrs

We will have breakfast quite early morning get prepare to embark toward trekking point, Syabrubeshi. Although the distance from Kathmandu just 145 kilo meter, due to winding, narrow and hilly road, it takes about 8 to 9 hours drive. It would be pretty hectic, exhausted ride; however we get time to see beautiful landscape, High Mountains, people, their farmland and farming style alongside the road. We will pass number villages and small town such as Ranipauwa, Trishuli, Kalikastha and Dhunche Bazaar.


Day 04: Trek Syabrubeshi to Lama Hotel (2,380m): 6 hrs

Today is our first day of Trekking, certainly it is pretty exciting. We follow the trail Langtang River and passes dense forest. While doing mountain trek it is pretty normal go through ascending and descending trail. We pass several bridges, village, farmland, and Tea houses along the trail. After doing 5 to 6 hours walk, we will reach at Lama Hotel, our overnight point. Trek Leader will arrange a Tea house lodge here.



Day 05: Trek From  Lama Hotel to Mundu (3,430m): 6-7 hours

Today, our trail starts after having delicious mountain breakfast, towards Mundu, our overnight point. The trail leads us in to a dense forest and brings us to uphill towards narrow valley. The trail goes though gorge, however, the views around seems gorgeous including Langtang Lirung and spectacular landscape. We pass beautiful Langtang village, which used to be our overnight point, was tragically damage by earthquake, 2015. The glacial avalanches, caused by earthquake, buried over 300 lives in Langtnag village alone. Now, the rebuilding process has going speedily and most of them has been rebuilt. After crossing this beautiful settlement, we arrive at Mundu where we are stopping for overnight stay.


Day 06: Trek from Mundu to Kyangjin Gompa and village exlpore (3,870mt): 3 hour.

As usual, we keep continue our daily job, following trail after breakfast. As per itinerary, we will be heading towards Kyanjin Gompa, today’s stopping point. Along on the trail, we cross many chhorten (shrines of Buddhist), water mills, and farmland and artistically inscribed with Buddhist Mantras on the rocks. After reaching at Kanjin Gompa, we check in to the hotel and trek leader will escorts us to explore around the village.


Day 07: Explore Tserko Ri (5000m) 5-6 hours

Today, the day starts after taking mountainous breakfast at the lodge, and we head forward to visit Tserko-Ri Mountain through Yak Pasture. The mountain situated at 5000m, air goes thinner. It uneasy breathing, we have to consult with trek leader to cope with this problem. From the Tserko-Ri, we will see magnificent Mountain View around. After completing mountain exploration, we will come back to Kyanjin village and go around to see largest monastery, enjoying beautiful glaciers, grazing yaks and the beautiful view around.



Day 08: Trek from Kyanjin Gompa to Negang (4300m): 5-6 hr

After having a good time at Kyanjin Gompa, we trek towards Negang, today’s stopping point. The trail goes bellow towards Langtang River and ascends uphill through Rhododendron and juniper forest. On the trail there are no human settlement appear around as the trail reaches on the vast wilderness. Upon arrival at Negang, we will overnight at camp.


Day 09: Trek from Negang to Keldang (4250m) crossing though Ganja La pass (5122m) 6-7 hours
Today, we are crossing Ganja-La-Pass, so it will be a challenging and pretty strenuous day. However, we will be enjoying high mountain pass and Rocky Mountains around. The trail takes us towards southern direction by following glacial stream, moraines and steep up to the pass. The pass and all other objects around are fully covered by snow. In addition, we can view beautiful Langtang Lirung Mountain and Tibetan plateau. After having beautiful mountains view from the pass, we descend downhill through a grassy land. We arrive to Keldang, where we set up tent and overnight stay.


Day 10: Trek from Keldang to Dukpu (4080m): -5-6 hours

Today, we are pretty exhausted as we did a long high steep uphill and downhill trail and crossed high mountain pass, nevertheless, we get ready to go forward to our job again. The trail goes bellow though ridge and grassland; we enjoy beautiful views all around. The ridge line trail passes through a village, Helambu and arrives to Duku, where we will be stopping for overnight stay.


Day 11: Trek Dukpu to Tarke Gyang (2,590m): 5-6 hours

The altitude drops down; the trail has not been done yet. Today, the trail descents and climb up again to a pass that we can use another view point see around mountain including some peaks of Everest regions and certainly Langtang. The way to our scheduled point, descents downhill to Gyarke Gompa, and we will arrive at Tyarke Ghyang. We may have time to explore the Old Monastery and beautiful Hyolmo Village around. We stop here for overnight stay.



Day 12: Trek from Tarkey Ghyang to Sermathang (2,610m): 4-5 hours.

Today is our second last day of Mountain Trek; the trail leads us through forest and villages. The valley gets widen, and the trail eases our trek relatively to previous days. Comparatively, we can differentiate people, their culture and practices between Langtang and Helambu Region, even though they follow same religion, Buddhism. The stopping point, Sermathang offers a beautiful Hyolmo settlement and decade old monasteries. Furthermore, the Mountain Views around in far distances never let down us in our day-to-day feeding.


Day 13: Trek from Sermathang to Malemchi Pul Bazaar: Drive to Kathmandu: 3-4 hours Trek and 3 hours

Today is our final day of Ganja-La-pass Trekking, we follow the trail through many villages farm and farm lands then arrive at driving point Melamchi Bazaar. Upon arrival in Kathmandu we will have time to shopping to buy souvenir for friends and family back home. In the evening, Go Trek Nepal will organize a farewell dinner party. We will share interesting talk about the post trekking with GTN officials.


Day 14: Fly back home

As per the flight schedule, GoTrekkingNepal organizes a airport drop and say good bye to Nepal.
