Mt. Kanchanjunga stands over 8585m making it the world’s third-highest peak. It is located in the beautiful terrain tugged in the eastern region of Nepal spread over the border with Sikkim. Mt. Kanchanjunga is a massive figure of five different tips that pierce the sky. The locals derive the name Kanchanjunga that means Five Treasures of Snow. Locals believe that the five different mountains are a manifestation of Gold, Silver, Grain, Stone, and Holy Scripture. The mountains are worshiped as the lineage of the gods and resemblance of the blessings to humankind in terms of culture and religion.
Kanchanjunga base camp trekking is situated within the Kanchenjunga Conservation area that covers a vast area of 2035 square kilometers wide land. The trekking route takes you on the journey towards the untamed beauty of Himalayas. The destination is located in one of the remotest areas in the world, where nature showcases its beauty at its best. Trek through lush forests and alongside the Ghunsa River. Cross the river and climb to Sekathum, a small village nestled in the hills. Overnight in Sekathum.
The trail ascends steeply through forests of bamboo, rhododendron, and pine. Reach Amjilosa, a beautiful village with stunning views. Overnight in Amjilosa.
Continue trekking through dense forests and cross small streams. Arrive at Gyabla, a remote village offering magnificent views of the surrounding peaks. Overnight in Gyabla.
Trek through forests of rhododendron and pine, crossing the river several times. Reach Ghunsa, a picturesque Sherpa village. Spend the night in Ghunsa.
Spend a day acclimatizing in Ghunsa. Take a short hike to the nearby ridges for panoramic views or explore the village and its monasteries. Overnight in Ghunsa.
Trek through high alpine terrain, passing waterfalls and crossing glaciers. Reach Kambachen, a high-altitude settlement with incredible mountain views. Overnight in Kambachen.
Continue trekking through rugged landscapes, following the moraine of the Kanchenjunga Glacier. Arrive at Lhonak, surrounded by majestic peaks. Overnight in Lhonak.
Hike to Kanchenjunga Base Camp, also known as Pangpema. Enjoy breathtaking views of the north face of Kanchenjunga. After spending some time at the base camp, return to Lhonak for the night.
Retrace your steps back to Ghunsa, descending through the beautiful landscapes. Overnight in Ghunsa.
Ascend towards Selele Pass, trekking through forests and along the ridges. Reach Selele Camp, where you will spend the night.
Cross the Selele La and Mirgin La passes, enjoying spectacular views of the surrounding peaks. Descend to Tseram, a scenic spot in the high Himalayas. Overnight in Tseram.
Trek to Ramche and continue to Oktang Base Camp. Enjoy stunning views of the south face of Kanchenjunga and the surrounding peaks. Return to Ramche for the night.
Descend through the forested trail, passing yak pastures and small settlements. Reach Torongden, a tranquil village. Overnight in Torongden.
Continue descending, passing through diverse landscapes and crossing multiple rivers. Arrive at Yamphudin, a village inhabited by Sherpas, Limbus, and Rai communities. Overnight in Yamphudin.
Trek through terraced fields and forests, descending to the village of Khebang. Enjoy the cultural richness and hospitality of the local communities. Overnight in Kheban
Continue descending through beautiful landscapes, passing small villages and farmlands. Reach Khamdime, the endpoint of the trek. Overnight in Khamdime.
Drive from Khamdime to Bhadrapur, enjoying the scenic journey through the hills. Overnight in Bhadrapur.
Take a flight back to Kathmandu from Bhadrapur. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure to explore the city or shop for souvenirs. Overnight in Kathmandu.
