It is said almost all season are best trekking seasons in Nepal. Many tour operators and trekking agents offer trekking package in all seasons. It is true; technically they are doing their best to utilize clients’ available leisure time by organizing trekking in mountains. As Nepal’s geographical structure is diverse, located from 60 meter to 8848 meter elevation from sea level, the temperature varies at every hundred meter altitude from 0.5 to 1 degree Celsius. Each season will give us different experience of tour and trekking in Nepal.
Autumn is considered the best trekking season of Nepal. There is no cloud and haze in autumn, and the views are appeared crystal cleared. By this season the monsoon has already been over, and a short rain may fall rarely. The clear view of snow -aped mountains and greenery of landscape allure every trekker’s feeling. This is what during this season, tourist number influx towards Nepal.
Winter is the coldest season in Nepal. Depend on elevation, in Kathmandu, 1300 Meter the temperature may goes down up to -7 degree. We can presume the temperature at Everest Base camp, 5,365 mt and Annapurna Base Camp, 4,100 mt will not be bearable. Heavy snow covered trekking trail in winter. And the trail become inhospitable. We suggest to organize trekking below trail under 3,000 meter. Clouds and haze make visibility poor. If you would like to explore mountain, we will suggest you to go below 3500 mt elevation.
Spring, like autumn, is second best trekking season to explore mountain. People, who are planning for expedition and mountaineering. They organize these activities in Spring. Weather goes very stable in spring. We highly recommend this season if you can manage your holiday for trekking in Nepal.
During summer, it is not strongly High Mountain trekking. The monsoon falls during this season, and the torrential rain which may go days long that halt trekking. Due to thick cloud and heavy rain, sometimes the visibility appears maximum 5 meters. In this season, small stream flood, landslide, falling rocks and boulders from steep hill are other threatens. Sometimes, it will be good opportunity to trek after or before monsoon.
